Fred Brooks


Fred Brooks, 67, of Winchester, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia. He was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Ash Ridge, the son of the late Orlin D. and Esta (Stephenson) Brooks. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean conflict, a member of the Winchester American Legion Post #0242, a lifetime member of the Nathional Rifle Association, and had worked at Harrison Radiator in Dayton. Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean (Butts) Brooks of Winchester; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Orlin Fredrick and Crystal Brooks Jr. of Winchester and Anthony Wayne Brooks of Norfolk, Va.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie Jo and Randy Hamilton of Columbus, Faryl Ann and Eddie Mingus, Carol Ann and Donnie Tincher, and Patricia Ann and Johnny Jones, all of Winchester, one brother, Charles E. Brooks of Sardinia; two sisters, Stella Fuson of Detroit, Mich., and Lucille Howser of Milford; 10 grandchildren and four great-granchildren. Besides his parents, he preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 10, at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home in Winchester, with the Rev. Dan Harrison officiating. Burial followed in the Ash Ridge Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
