Nora E. Burns


Nora E. Burns, 84, of Peebles, died Tuesday, June 17, at the University Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born at Tranquility in Adams County on May 11, 1913, the daughter of Carey and Cora (Hilterbran) Freeze. She was a member of the Frog Hollow Church. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ray Burns in 1981. She is survived by eight sons, Floyd Burns of Applegrove, West Virginia, Russell Burns of Texas, Ralph Burns of Peebles, Clarence Burns of Peebles, Larry Burns of Peebles, Roger Burns of Marion, Marvin Burns of Peebles and Jerry Burns of Peebles; seven daughters, Mabel Thompson of Georgia, Mary Short of Blue Creek, Pearline Williams of Portsmouth, Ruth Burns of Lucasville, Violet Lynch of Texas, Wanda Warren of Dayton, and Sharon Chaney of Hillsboro; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 20, at the Locust Grove Gymnasium in Locust Grove with John Niswanda and Dennis Graham co-officiating. Burial followed in the Locust Grove Cemetery. The Brooke-Lafferty, Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
