Mabel Stout Chenoweth


Mabel Stout Chenoweth, 98, of Peebles, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Adams County Hospital. She was born in Highland County on Jan. 2, 1905, the daughter of the late David and Louise (Beuchler) Stout. She was a 66-year member of the Peebles United Methodist Church and had taught school in the Peebles School System for many years. She was a member of the Adams County Retired Teachers Association, charter member of the Adams County Senor Citizens, receiving the Outstanding Senior Citizen in 1976 and was a member of the Peebles Chapter Order Eastern Star 396. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Paul Shoemaker of Peebles; one daughter-in-law, Susan Chenoweth of Peebles; six grandchildren, Pat, Dan, Mike, Lynne, Karen and Lori; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Chenoweth, who died in 1960; one son, Clifton Chenoweth in 1997; one daughter, June Houlk, who died in 1999; five brothers, John Stout, Earl Stout, Raymond Stout and Mike Stout; and one sister, Dorothy Mueller. Services were held Monday, Feb.24, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Steven Zinser officiating. Burial followed in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
