Dora Agnes Daulton

Dora Agnes Daulton, oldest daughter or Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Daulton of 314 Second street was stricken suddenly by death Saturday 3:45 p.m. under peculiarly sad circustances. The deceased had just come out from quarantine as her father having had smallpox and the mother and the late Miss Daulton had been with him in his sickness to nurse him. The card was removed from the home Friday afternoon and Miss Dora was talking to the neighbors, seemingly in her usual good health. Later Friday evening she complained of extreme nervousness and after a physician was called she became unconscious and continued in that condition until her death came 19 hours later. Cause of her death is given as ureamic poisoning. Miss Daulton was vaccinated three weeks ago Saturday, but physicians say this had absolutely nothing to do with her death. News of her demise came as a great shock to her friends and she had endeared herself in so many circles of freinds by her cheerful ways. She was naturally of a kindly disposition and this added to her capability, happy disposition and charming manner made up a lovely character. She was born June 22, 1890, at McKendree, O., later moving to Friendship. Since coming to Portsmouth, nine years ago, she has been a faithful member of the Bigelow church where she had a class of young girls and had been very active in Young People's meetings. The deceased is survived by her parents, two brothers, Henry of Seventh street and Maurice at home, one sister, Lucy, at home, and an uncle, Jack Daulton, at home. Funeral services will take place at Friendship church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Charles E. Chandler in charge. Burial will be at Friendship.
