Mayme Kemmeter

Death of a young Woman

"Mayme Kemmeter is dead" was the words spoken by almost everyone on our streets Sunday morning. It is sadness that we are called upon to cronicle the death of one so young and so well beloved as she.

She was born and reared in our town and everyone speaks kindly of her womanly ways and Christian character.

She moved to this place to Manchester with her parents a few years ago where she has resided since.

She was sick only a few days having been visbly so since the Tuesday preceding her death with tetanus and all that medical skill and loving hands could do was done to ease her suffering and bring her back to her usual health but to no avail as the death angel had taken hold of the weak thread of her life and four o'clock Sunday morning her soul took it's flight to the God who gave it there to await the resurection morn.

On January 15, 1902 she was married to Samuel Russell, and to this union was born a little son who with the father is left to mourn the untimely death of wife and mother. She was the youngest daughter of Frank Kemmeter ? wife and a sister Mrs. J. L. Harris of this place.

She was twenty-two years, four months and thirteen days old at the time of her death.

Besides her husband and baby she leaves her father and mother, five brother one sister and many relatives and friends to mourn.

Her funeral which was largely attended was held in the Presbyterian church at Manchester, Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Revs Verity and Ferguson after which her remains were laid to rest in the Oddfellows cemetery.
