Clive Elden "Pete" Newman
Cleve Elden "Pete" Newman, of McDermott, died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at his residence. He was born April 26, 1922, in Wilmington. He was a retired Norfolk and Western Railroad engineer. He served in the Marine Corp. during World War II. He was the sone of Stacy Day of Portsmouth and the late Coleman Newman of Peebles. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Loraine Newman, one son and daughter-in-law; Charles and Peggy Newman of Lucasville; two daughters and sons-in-law; Vera Newman and Larry Osborne of Danville, IN; and Anna Newman and Darrell Cable of Lucasville; four grandsons, Mark and Matthew Osborne, and Brent and Troy Newman; three brothers; Norman, Gary and Tom Newman, all of Peebles; four sisters, Phyllis Smalley, Rhea Fultz, and Marylin McIntosh, all of Peebles, and Carolyn McAllister of Bainbridge; and many other family and friends. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 1997 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home.
