Walter R. Newman
Walter R. Newman, 71, of West Union, died Tuesday, August 13, at the Adams County Hospital. He was born June 9, 1925, at Norfolk, Viginia, a son of the late Hugh and Gayla (Moore) Newman. Mr. Newman was a life member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion at Manchester and the D.A.V. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. (Alexander) Newman of West Union, whith whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 10; a son, Russell Newman of West Union; two daughters, Juanita Gilbert and Angela Wears, both of Port Clinton; four sisters, Marie Plymail of Lanchaster, Helen Circle of Springfield, Janice Duke and Betty Baumgartner, both of Lake Plaza, Florida; three brothers, Harvey Newman of West Union, Fred Newman of Springfield and David Newman of Corpes Cristi, Florida; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, August 16, at the Ellis-Beam Funeral Home in West Union. Rev. Ivan Grooms officiated. Burial was in Moore's Chapel Cemetery, with military graveside services by the V.F. W. of Manchester
