Chester R. Slack, Sr.



Chester R. Slack Sr., 79, of Manchester, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at the Southen Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born in Peebles on May 7, 1923, the son of the late John A. Slack and Lucille Francis Slack. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran serving in World War II and the Korean Era. He was a truck driver. Survivors include his wife, Rudy Perkins Slack of Manchester; two sons, Chester "Dick" R. Slack Jr., and Jimmy Slack, both of Peebles; three daughters, Bonnie Slack and Donna Pierce, both of Peebles, and Janet Perkins of Manchester; one brother, Ralph Slack of Peebles; three sisters, Dorothy Coler and Vivian Bryan, both of Greenfield, and Geraldine Campton of Seaman; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Wilson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial took place in the Manchester Cemetery. Graveside rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
