Elizabeth J. Scott

Died at the home of her son, Samuel Scott, and family, eight miles southwest of town, on Mon, April 1, 1907, Mrs. Elizabeth J. Scott, wife of Robert Scott, Sr., aged 69 years and 15 days. The funeral services were conducted from the house by Rev. W. C. Jordan. Interment was made in the Gove Cemetery, Tues afternoon. Deceased was born in Adams Co, OH, 16 Mar 1838, and was married to Robert Scott, 12 Oct 1854, in the same county. One year later she and her husband came west and located in Nemaha County NE, and there resided until 1870. From there they moved to Saline County NE, thence to Jefferson County NE, residing in the two last name counties up to eight years ago, at which time they came to Gove County and located on a claim about 6 miles west and 2 1/2 miles south of Gove City, where they have since resided. For more that 53 years, Mr. and Mrs. Scott have sailed the sea of matrimony and a kinder, more affectionate or sedate couple would be hard to find. To them have been born 14 children--6 boys and 8 girls. One son and one daughter preceded her and 12 survive the deceased. In childhood Mrs. Scott became converted to Methodism, joining the Methodist Church. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. Card of Thanks: To the many friends who so kindly assisted us during our late bereavement, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Robert Scott and Family.
