Earl Alton Shoemaker



Earl Alton Shoemaker, 71, of Peebles, Locust Grove community, died Friday, August 12, at Chillicothe V.A. Medical Center. He was born February 20, 1923, in Adams County, the son of Starley and Bertha Hilterbran Shoemaker. He attended the Peebles Church of the Nazarene and was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Houchen Shoemaker; three sons, Harry, Danny and Rick Shoemaker, all of Peebles; five daughters, Ruth Ann Newman of Peebles, Betty Shoemaker of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Glenna Cochran of Waverly, Peggy DuPree of Peebles and Janet Planck of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; one brother, Lowell Shoemaker of Kentucky, 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, August 15, at the Peebles Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Lewis Viar officiating, under direction of the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles. Military graveside services were conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
