Gary Tomlin



Gary Tomlin, 55, of West Union, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at the Adams County Hospital in West Union. He was born May 18, 1944, in West Union, the son of the late Thurman and Minnie (Yazell) Tomlin. He was a farmer and former construction worker as well as Commander of the Adams County DAV Chapter 71, and Commander of the Peebles VFW Post 1029, and a U.S. Army Sergeant and vertan from the Vietnam era. Survivors include his wife, Connie Tomlin of West Union; one son, Gary Matthew Tomlin of West Union; one daughter, Amey Michelle Tomlin of West Union; one grandson; five brothers, Thurman Earl Tomlin of Cincinnati, George Tomlin of Jonesboro, Ind., Dallas Tomlin of Bentonville, David Tomlin of Manchester and Paul Douglas Tomlin of West Union; six sisters, Alta Marie Leoanrd and Martha Grooms, both of Manchester, Helen Cluxton of Russellville, Mary Abbott of Dayton, Golda Allen of Port Richey, Fla., and Sue Huntley of Coloden, W.Va.; and two aunts. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 11, at the Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union, with Richard Williams officiating. Burial followed at the Kirker Cemetery in West Union, with military graveside services conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home.
