Clarence Lyle Washburn



Clarence Lyle Washburn, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, January 3. He was born February 13, 1905, the son of the late Lula Belle and William T. Washburn. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1925. Mr. Washburn was the owner and operator of two tire shops, one in Winchester and one in Sardina. He also was owner and operator of a Caramel Corn Shop in Winchester. He was a sales representatives for many big fertilizer companies and after retirement he became a realtor with several agents in Highland County. He was a member of the Highland Lodge 38 F&AM;, 50-year member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Clarice, whom he married in 1930 and together they shared over 65 years of marriage; a sister, Mary Newman of Seaman, a niece, Carla Huber of Seaman; several other nieces and nephews, and a special great-nephew, Ronald Lee Cross and wife Penny, who is caring for his wife, Clarice. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Pastor James Cattran officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery, with military graveside services by the Highland County Honor Guard.
