George B. Webb



George B. Webb, aged 45 years, was shot and killed by his neighbor, Robert Davis, 34, on Monday 7:00 AM over a roadway between the prospective farms. He was killed on the farm of Tom and Lee Blake. The Davis and Webb families were close neighbors. Davis was arrested for murder and taken to the county jail. Webb is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Kate Barnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barnes, and two sons. He leaves three brothers in Kansas and four married sisters in Indiana. Funeral service was Wednesday afternoon at the U.P. Church of Seaman with burial in Cherry Fork Cemetery.

George B. Webb was born March 25, 1876, and reared to manhood near Blue Creek, Ohio. He was the second son of George and Elizabeth Webb. He married Miss Kate Barnes January 4, 1898. To them were born two sons, Ernest, 16 years, and Russell, 13 years. He was a farmer and belonged to a number of farm organizations. He was killed Oct. 30, 1922, aged 46 years, 7 mo and 5 days. He was buried Nov. 1 at the Cherry Fork Cemetery by Rev. W.P. Cooley of the Seaman U.P. Church, of which he was a member. Other survivors include his wife, two sons, three brothers from Kansas and four sisters of Indiana: Thomas, James and Ova who reside in Kansas; Mrs. E.B. Cappell, Mrs. Harvey Rose, Mrs. Charles Ketterman and Mrs. John Smith who reside in Eaton, Indiana.
