Rachel Lucinda Willman

Rachel Lucinda Willman, daughter of Jesse and Harriet Thompson Willman was born January 18, 1859, and was called to her heavenly home on January 15, 1941, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 28 days.

On November 25, 1886, she was united in marriage to Stephen F. Calaway with whom she lived for a period of 29 years, he passing away June 21, 1915. To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters. Of these one daughter, Mary, has journeyed on to the better land. Those who remain to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted mother are: Mrs. Thomas Bailey, Clarence Calaway and Jess Calaway at home, one step-son, Charley Calaway of Marion, Ind., four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Maggie Steele, besides a host of relatives and friends.

She became a member of the Wheat Ridge Presbyterian church on Feb. 5, 1891. Although in poor health for many years, has not been able to attend church as she would like to have in late years. "Ma," as she liked to be called, will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially so by her son, Jesse, who so tenderly cared for her since the death of his father.

She did not live a life of seclusion, not only the children and grandchildren received loving welcome but neighbors and friends as well and all loved to visit her in her home.

We shall love to think of her as laying all her burdens aside and passing on into the sweeter, richer life prepared by the Heavenly Father for those who are faithful and true.

Laying aside a burden, This weary mortal coil; Done with earth's vexations; Done with its tears and toils. Finished with all earth's labor, Tired and ready to sleep; Ready to bid her friends goodbye, Wondering why they weep.
